			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>The Payroll Upgrade 2012 will consist of two phases this year. Phase One will incorporate the necessary legislative changes to complete the 2011/2012 Tax Year and process from 6 April 2012 onwards. This phase is being introduced in April 2012.</p>
<p>Phase Two will cover the legislative changes resulting from the Auto Enrolment of Pensions and changes made by the Child Maintenance and Enforcement Commission with the introduction of a new type of child maintenance deduction. Phase Two will come into effect in October 2012.</p>
<p>The version numbers for the Phase One release will be:</p>
<ul>
<li>Opera 3 (1.40)</li>
<li>Opera II (7.00)</li>
<li>Online Filing Manager (3.20)</li>
</ul>
<p><strong>Statutory Changes for April 2012 </strong></p>
<p>The statutory changes required are outlined below:</p>
<ul>
<li><strong>End of Year Returns </strong>The formats of all End of Year Returns for the 2011/12 tax year have changed, mainly due to the introduction of Additional Statutory Paternity Pay. This affects the formats of the P14s, P60s and the P35 Summary.</li>
<li><strong>Fuel Types on P11D</strong> The way in which ‘fuel types’ are to be reported for company cars on the P11D will change for the 2011/12 tax year.</li>
<li><strong>Abolishing Contracting Out of the Second State Pension </strong>The Government is abolishing contracting out of the additional State Pension (also called State Second Pension) on a defined contribution basis from 6 April 2012. As a result, from the start of the 2012/13 tax year, HMRC will abolish the use of COMP NI category letters. The COMP NI category letters currently supported by Opera 3/II are the letters F, G and S.</li>
<li><strong>NI Rebates</strong> Every 5 years the Government reviews the NI rebates applicable to contracted-out NI category letters. These rebates have been reviewed this year and from 6 April 2012 they will be reduced. The total contracted-out rebate is currently 5.3%, this will be reduced to 4.8% (the total rebate of 4.8% will be split as 1.4% for the employee and 3.4% for the employer). Please note that because COMP NI category letters are to be abolished on 6 April 2012, the contracted-out rebate will only apply to COSR NI category letters D, E and L.</li>
<li><strong>PAYE and NI Rate Changes</strong> The Chancellor’s Autumn Statement outlines changes to the rates and thresholds for PAYE, NI and Statutory Payments that come into force on 6 April 2012.</li>
<li><strong>Student Loans</strong> The student loan threshold is set to increase from £15,000 to £15,795 per year from 6 April 2012.</li>
</ul>
<p><strong>Non Statutory Changes for April 2012 </strong></p>
<p>The non statutory changes required are outlined below:</p>
<ul>
<li><strong>Enhancements</strong> There will be a number of minor enhancements introduced, mainly to do with validation checking and user interface improvements.</li>
<li><strong>6 April 2012</strong> The Good Friday Bank Holiday falls on 6 April 2012. HMRC has confirmed that if the normal pay date is 6 April 2012, but the payment is made to employees on 5 April 2012 (ie in the 2011/2012 tax year), that payment is deemed to be made in the 2012/2013 tax year. No change is required in Opera 3/ Opera II because the Payroll Calendar “Usual Pay Date” will determine into which financial year the payments should fall.</li>
</ul>

<p><strong>Workplace Pensions Reform – a special note</strong></p>
<p>From 1 October 2012, changes to pensions law (the Workplace Pensions Reform) will start to affect employers. The changes mean that employers will have to enrol their employees into a pension scheme and pay into that scheme; these new requirements are also more commonly known as ‘auto enrolment’.</p>
<p>The date when the new law is ‘switched on’ for employers is known as the ‘staging date’. The staging date for employers varies according to the number of employees they employ. The earliest staging date is 1 October 2012 and that is for the largest employers (those who employee 120,000 or more employees); then, approximately every month onwards, more and more employers will be brought on board (from the largest to the smallest) until 2016 by which time all employers will be operating under the new law.</p>
<p>Note: The changes required for ‘auto enrolment’ will not be included within the forthcoming 2012 Payroll Upgrade. There will be a separate release scheduled for Autumn 2012.</p>

<p>Landed Costs are the additional costs incurred in getting goods you have purchased overseas from your supplier to your premises, such as freight, import duty, warehousing etc. It is important to keep track of landed costs in order to know the true profitability when selling your stock.</p>

<p>Opera 3 (1.30) will include landed costs functionality. This will allow you to automatically calculate and record the expected landed costs at the time of performing various stock-related postings, such as when receiving stock via a purchase order.</p>
<p>These landed costs can be posted to the Nominal Ledger to ensure more accurate Profit &amp; Loss and Balance Sheet reporting, and will also be included within various Stock-related processes, such as the Stock Valuation Report, to provide a more accurate picture of the true value of your stock.</p>
<h3>Retrospective Debtors and Creditors Reporting</h3>
<p>At present, the Debtors and Creditors reports within Opera 3 allow you to view the outstanding debt “as at today”. New Retrospective Debtors and Creditors reporting will be introduced into Opera 3 to allow you to show the outstanding debt “as at a specific date in the past”.</p>

<h3>Stocktake Discovery</h3>
<p>New options available during the creation of a Stock take will let you include traceable items that don&#8217;t yet have batch or serial numbers, and choose whether or not to include zero quantity batches. In addition, the new Discovered Items feature will allow you to add to the ongoing Stocktake any unexpected batch or serial numbers found during the count.<br />
To speed up data entry it will be possible to rapidly mark all known serial numbers for a particular item as found or not.</p>
<h3>Repeat Invoices in the Scheduler</h3>
<p>The Scheduler currently allows a number of tasks in Opera 3 to be scheduled to run automatically. In Opera 3 (1.30), Scheduler functionality will be extended to include running repeat invoices. This will allow a batch of repeat invoices to be scheduled to run unattended at a time that suits you.<br />

It is ideal for counting inventory in warehouses, stock and supply rooms, manufacturing and distribution centres, and retail businesses.</p>

<p>With over 60 enhancements in Opera 3 CRM, including the new Summary Scheduler in Helpdesk Management designed to improve call scheduling and Batch Generation of Planned Maintenance calls, the uplifted application gives a fresh route for attracting new business.</p>

<p>The new Document Management Desktop application, makes Document Management available to anyone in the business. 			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p style="text-align: justify;">Hewlett-Packard has recently announced new G7 blade and rack servers designed to deliver more performance while combining hardware and software capabilities to improve server reliability and lower energy costs.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">The just-released G7 series of servers includes new processors from Intel and AMD, which help the servers deliver a big performance boost over its predecessors. The servers also include larger memory footprints of up to 2TB, and improved I/O technology for faster execution of data-intensive tasks.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">The seven blade servers and three rack servers include Intel&#8217;s latest Xeon 5600 and 7500 series processors and AMD&#8217;s Opteron 6100 microprocessors.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">The company is trying to improve server system architecture and scale up computing capabilities to effectively handle demanding workloads and exponential data growth.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">The larger memory footprint could help servers accommodate more virtual machines in virtualized environments. The servers include management software to better manage virtualized environments.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">The servers also include power management features that provide server administrators with stronger control over power drawn by servers.</p>
